Seeking LTC homes for a research study to educate healthcare providers on osteoporosis management and fracture prevention for residents in LTC
Research by the Geras Centre for Aging Research aims to reduce hip fracture rates of residents’ living in long-term care by educating healthcare providers on osteoporosis management and fracture prevention recommendations. The research team is looking for 122 long-term care homes across Ontario and healthcare providers within a long-term care home will be asked to participate in a fracture prevention educational intervention (PREVENT model) over 18 months. To be eligible, a long-term care home must be profit or not-for-profit, have a minimum of 70 occupied beds, and have access to PointClickCare EMR system to access Fracture Risk Scale scores.
